At Kidz Teeth, we offer tailored treatment approaches based on your child’s needs, comfort level, and the complexity of care required.
Treatment Options
Local Anaesthetic (In the Dental Chair)
We use local anaesthetic to numb the treatment area, ensuring your child feels no pain during their procedure. Instead of the traditional syringe we use The Wand, a computerised local anaesthetic delivery system.
This technology:
-
Delivers anaesthetic at a controlled pressure, making the experience more comfortable
-
Uses a pen-like plastic handpiece that looks like a “magic wand,” helping to reduce anxiety
-
Is ideal for children, especially those who are nervous about injections
-
To ease discomfort, a numbing gel is first applied to the gums before the anaesthetic is placed.
General Anaesthesia
General anaesthesia may be recommended in the following situations:
-
Extensive or complex treatment is required
-
Management of complex dental trauma or infections
-
A very young or anxious child is unable to cope with multiple dental visits
-
Multiple procedures would otherwise require 4–5 separate appointments under local anaesthetic
-
All treatment, including x-rays, are completed in one session
-
While your child is asleep, they will be cared for by a Specialist Paediatric Anaesthetist, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout
-
All dental treatment will be carried out by your Specialist Paediatric Dentist
-
The treatment takes place at Quay Park Specilialist Day Hospital.
-
This option helps reduce the emotional and behavioural fatigue that can result from repeated appointments in the dental surgery

Fee Structure
When treatment under general anaesthesia is required, there are three separate fees involved
Specialist Fee
This covers:
-
Number and type of restorations
-
Materials used
-
Complexity and duration of treatment
-
Please note: The dental fee under general anaesthesia is often lower than the total cost of multiple in-chair treatments over several appointments.
Flexible Payment Solutions
Rebates for dental, theatre, and anaesthetic fees vary between health insurance providers. Please contact your health insurance directly.
We also offer alternative payment options such as QCard, and Afterpay.
